The devastating death the Ghanaian-British actor and former MTV show host, Sam Sarpong has continued to send shivers down the spines of many after he reportedly committed suicide by jumping off the bridge. Below are what you need to know about the deceased.
- He was born Samuel Osei Sarpong in 1975.
- He was born in London although his dad is a native Ghana.
- At the age of 11, Sarpong moved to Los Angeles in the US where he attended El Camino Real High School in California.
- During his high school days, Sam was a Basketball star and hoped to chase a career in the game.
- His basketball dreams later crashed forcing him to move to acting and modeling.
- His debut on the big screen was the 1994 movie, ‘My So-called Life’.
- Sam later moved to MTV where he was the co-host of the popular ‘Yo Momma’ diss show for several years.
- He had also worked with BET where he served as the host of the BET Awards pre-show. He presented the ‘Best International Act’ category at the 2013 edition of the awards.
- Sam Sarpong is an internationally reputed model who has worked with Tommy Hilfiger and walked the run way for global brands like Gucci, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and many others.
- Sam was also a rapper and was a member of the group, The League with which he dropped 6 albums.

- His younger sister, June Sarpong is also a star broadcaster in the UK and has worked with MTV, BBC and many other top media.
